Get £10 off Sky+ Boxes
Sky now offer a digital video recorder, which they call Sky+. We've had a play with one, and are very impressed with it. Basically, it uses an internal hard drive to store your recordings, but don't worry, it's extremely simple and easy to use. And even better, Sky are offering £10 off for new customers.
Sky+ Review
Recording programmes is all done via your Sky+ remote control, using just one button. You just press the red [R] button twice, and the Sky+ box will begin recording the current station. You can even record one channel while watching another! And if you want to be particularly flash, you can record TWO channels whilst watching another! Perfect for those times when there's three programmes on at once that you want to watch (!).
The standard Sky+ box has enough storage for around 20 hours of video, and the (considerably) more expensive Sky+ 160 box has room for 80. That's quite a stack of VHS tapes. With Sky+ there's no tapes, superb picture quality, and no messing around with timers.
There are also some great functions such as pausing live TV - whenever you're ready you can unpause it and resume from where you left off. You can also instant rewind during live TV - perfect for when you're watching Big Brother or Pay Per View (ahem).
Sky are currently giving a £10 discount on Sky+ boxes for new customers, making them £89.99. Pretty cheap compared to DVD video recorders, and minus the hassle. It's a pretty good deal, and people I've recommended them to absolutely swear by them. The Sky+ 160 is a rather wallet-blasting £299.99, but if you expect to go bananas with recording, it might be worth going for one.
