WinTasks 5 Pro Review
WinTasks 5 Pro in Detail Continued
The upper toolbar in WinTasks 5 has administrative tools for the processes. Here the Buttons are: Stop, Inc, Dec and Block. Stop will terminate a process, Inc and Dec increase and decrease a process` priority, and Block will stop that process being run at Windows Startup.
Process priority can be set to four stages (low, normal, high and real-time) - increased or reduced. Using a higher priority more speed can be given for the selected tasks. This is useful if several intensive programs are needed to be run at the same time. The block function is likewise quite practical. To be sure that unwanted programs are not started again by Windows, you can add processes to the WinTasks block list. This list is easily managed in case you block something you need by mistake.
WinTasks also has an update function integrated. Since new programs come on to the market daily, the process library must be updated so that programs can be identified correctly. Fortunately, the downloads are small and very fast so you're not left waiting long.
 WinTasks Autostarted Programs Window
Another very useful function in WinTasks is the Autostart tool. With Autostart you can view and modify the programs that run when Windows starts. Here annoying or malicious software may implant itself - such as Dialers, Spyware or Trojans. These can be quickly and effectively removed from the Autostart list in a matter of clicks. This saves time not only during the starting procedure, but also releases precious resources which are usually wasted by useless background programs.
 WinTasks DLL Information Window
Further there is a rather inconspicuous DLL Button (Dynamic Link Library), which can however be very useful. When you click on it, all DLL files used by that program are indicated. This can be useful particularly for seeking out the internal connections between files.
WinTasks CPU and Resource Statistics Window
In addition, the are visual statistics on CPU and memory usage - similar to that of the Windows Task Manager but somewhat more flexible, plus there are logging functions.
